It seems I have been fed that "I'm just a concerned parent line on all of my car purchases. My first car (88 toyota 4X4) "...I strongly advise against a 4x4 for a kid your age, you won't be able to afford the insurance and my friend's son just died in one..." I am 23 now, but the safest I have ever felt was behind the wheel of my second car (280zx turbo). I joked that it was because it was so fast I only had to pay attention to what was in front of me.. But seriously, a true sports car seems much safer than any other vehicle type. Better braking, better handling, more fluid movement ie..passing etc.. Maybe american automakers just need to build a better car around their big pushrod gas guzzling engines.... Just my opinion..
